About Me
Born in 1947, in Kenya, to Hari bhai and Jivi ben Chohan; he is the eldest of twins and of the Chohan household, a large close knit family which includes three sisters and three more brothers. At the tender age of 14, he began work at a company called Brown & Noble. He worked there for six years as a supervisor of coffee storage and shipment. His father built a furniture manufacturing business and showroom in Mombasa, where Bhagwanji worked as a young boy, learning loyalty and the importance of dedication. Voluntarily helping running Youth Group,Library , Playing Indian Instrument Tabla , dancing in Krishan Lila , By his late teens, Bhagwanji moved with his family from Kenya to London.
In London, he found a job with London Transport as a bus conductor and Booking Clerk until in 1982 when he set up his own retail grocery business which he ran for 23 years. Through a wealth of voluntary work, he found that his true vocation was helping the community. In 1973, he volunteered for the Youth Service , Ealing Community Race Relation Council , interpreter , Special Constable, This led to many more community based projects such as helping to start up the Shree Sorathia Prajapati Community Your Mandal Southall Uk in 1973, which leads activities for young people , holding Navratri Festival, Mela , Youth Competition, Sports Festival , Drama and even set up a community school (Vidyha Sagar) in 1974 for Gujarati classes, music and drama, which is still running today. Bhagwanji still plays a part as the Vice Chair.
